Community Services

Child Development Programs and Services (CDPS) recognizes the importance of providing additional services to the community and developing and strengthening community partnerships to support Butte County's youngest children.  Below are just a few ways that CDPS is leading the effort and serving its community.

Help Me Grow

Help Me Grow (HMG) is a national effort that promotes a comprehensive, coordinated system for early identification and referral to services for children at risk of developmental and behavioral concerns. It is also a hub for parents who have questions or concerns about how their child is growing, learning, speaking or behaving.
Funded by the First 5 Butte County Children's and Families Commission and in partnership with Butte County Office of Education as lead agency, Northern Valley Catholic Social Services, and Butte 211 the program is available all Butte County residents with children 0-5 regardless of income. Local Child Care Planning Council

The early care and education of young children has been identified as critical to their future development. The California Legislature has designated Local Child Care Planning Councils as the mandated groups responsible for needs assessment, service priority identification, and development of policies and activities to meet identified needs. The primary mission is to plan for child care and development services for children from birth to age fourteen, based on the needs of families, building on the distinct strengths of each community. Each council has members representative of the communities they serve. To learn more visit
